The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution Review

Hey guys! This is a review of The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution. It’s a chemical peel by The Ordinary company. They have a few different ones, and this is the first one I got my hands on. So you guys know my skin’s been doing the most, right? Manual exfoliation has been too much for my skin so I’m now using this peeling solution.

From my observation, most of the products from The Ordinary brand are acid-based.

It’s been over a month and thus far, I have no complaints. I’ve been using it once a week and I’m thinking of upping that to twice a week. After using it my skin is soft, and smooth. The Ordinary recommends using this particular peeling solution no more than twice a week.

How to Use The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution

1. Cleanse Your Skin

The solution asks for application to clean skin. After you have gently (You do not want to agitate your skin right before you apply a chemical product) cleansed the skin with your preferred cleanser. Now is not the time to manually or physically exfoliate your skin.

I typically recommend using a cleanser from the same brand’s line because it generally improves results. Once you’ve gently cleansed, pat your skin dry.

2. Apply the Peeling Solution.

Once your skin is clean, apply the peel. The packaging comes with a dropper that make it easy to apply the product form the dropper unto the skin.

The fairly viscous consistency of the peeling solution will take a bit of time to run, so you have enough time to apply a few drops on different areas of your face before it gets too far to a cotton pad and gently apply the product to your skin.

Next, use the pad of your fingers to evenly spread the product in the shape of a face mask.

3. Leave the product on for 15 Minutes

The instructions say to leave the product on for no more than 15 minutes. You definitely don’t want to go longer than the instructions but in case your skin starts to burn or itch or anything of that nature, you will know when to rinse.

4. Rinse off The Peel

Once the required time has passed, rinse your face thoroughly with luke warm water.

5. Moisturise

Always moisturise and add sunscreen/block to your skincare routine, even if you don’t intend to go outside.

It does sometimes tingle, but nothing alarming. I’m once again battling flair-ups that I credit to environmental and hormonal factors, but I’m managing. It’s set me back in term of clearing up the scars though.

Price

The peel is under US$5 for a 30ml bottle of product. It last more than six months since you’re only using it once or twice a week, so I would say it is worth the price, considerably. The peel is considerably better priced on the Sephora website than third party selling websites, like say Amazon.

My Results

Overall I think it is a great product for peeling at home and it’s reasonably priced. While I personally recommend it, remember that The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution is a chemical peeling product, so if you have supersensitive or broken skin, approach with caution or consult your dermatologist.

Final Thoughts

I love theThe Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution. Consistent use brings about fast and very obvious results. It remains my favorite and has now been inducted into my beauty routine as an old faithful favorite.

I have also been using one of the chemical peels from the same brand, but that’s another review for another day.

I have tried to use it on and off to get a feel of the difference it makes ling term. It’s been a year and a half and while I love this stuff, I prefer to exfoliate physically every few days and do it chemically more occasionally. It really does help to make my skin texture better, more clear and more supple.

I’ll be moving on to trying the other peels from the line and some of their moisturisers.

I’m really into Ole Henriksen products, but I will be trying a complete system from the Ordinary to see how that works for me. Of course, I’ll review each product as I go along.

Wish me luck!
