I never thought I would be the person to be talking about Vegan anything, let alone vegan ice cream. But hear me out, since I have migraines and it affects my consumption of dairy products, I didn’t eat ice cream too often, and when I did, I’d have to contend with headaches. Then a few months ago, I saw Vineyard Town Premium Blend, a locally made (Jamaican) ice cream brand from BabyLove C-G Foods floating around Twitter. Upon closer inspection, I discovered they made vegan ice cream with a coconut milk base.
A lot of hype was created around the product, and after getting my hands on the first tub by chance, I soon realized they do not stay on the shelves very long, for a good reason. So if I see it in the grocery store, I get it. They have a good range of flavours, like old favourites like rum, raisin, and grape nut. There are tropical and fruity flavours, such as Soursop, Blu Java (coffee), Coconut Blitz and Strawberry twist. They also make some seasonal flavours like Sorrel. I’ve tried four flavours; Coco-Nut (Grapenut), Coconut Blitz (my favourite), Coconut Vanilla and Strawberry Banana. Here are my thoughts.

Texture
The texture is very smooth and may contain real pieces of fruit, depending on the flavour. It’s light and melts instantly on your tongue. Because the ice cream base is made from coconut milk, it doesn’t hold form for long outside the freezer, but that’s okay. It makes it home. There’s also no brain freeze, which is a plus for me.
Taste
As I said previously, I wondered about the taste of vegan ice cream and whether I would enjoy it enough to indulge regularly. The answer is a big fat YES! The ice cream tastes fantastic! While I do have a coconut bias, the ice cream is delicious, and the hype is worth it.
My Favourites
My favourite flavours are Coconut Blitz, Coconut Vanilla and Coco-Nut (grape nut). I wasn’t keen on the Strawberry Banana and want to try the Blu Java (Coffee) flavour next.
Price
I get a 16oz tub for J$800 at the grocery store, and I think it’s nicely priced, considering the value.
Final Thoughts on Vineyard Town Vegan Ice Cream
I really like the ice cream guys. I wish they would make a larger tub so that I can get more for the family. But as far as vegan ice cream goes, this is my first, and I absolutely enjoy it. I get a tub or two each month.

2 years agoI LOVE coconut milk ice cream! I wish they had this brand in the United States. I can’t have any sort of dairy any more for medical reasons, and apparently, even a lot of people that can have dairy are starting to really love the coconut milk base ice creams. Personally, I’ve begun to like the non-dairy ice creams more than the dairy ones! Thanks for sharing this š

2 years agoA year later but confirming that this brand is still amazing! I’m lactose intolerant so Vineyard Town has been a welcomed addition to satisfy my occasional sweet tooth. Coconut vanilla is my favourite. I may give cookies and cream a try soon.

1 year agoI have only found out about this ice cream a few months back. I have eczema, sinusitis and migraines if I am going to chance it and eat dairy ice cream I would have to prepare to have my regular four to five days headache. I am happy to have been introduced to this product. I donāt really like the shredded coconut and the banana is overpowering the strawberry in that blend. Nonetheless, a wonderful and tasty product. Itās Godsent!
