What better way to bring Blogmas to a close than with a Christmas tag? I have been looking for a tag I could do and say Tall Blonde Tales do this one and figure, why not? It’s Christmas Eve and not many people, myself included are out due to the pandemic. Let’s get into the questions.
What is your favourite holiday movie?
I don’t know. Hun to my head though, I’m gonna say Jack Frost. All these years later it’s still top of my mind whenever I think about a Christmas movie I could watch anytime.
Do you open Christmas presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
Christmas morning. I don’t understand opening them on Christmas Eve.
Do you have a favourite holiday memory?
I’m going to say it was the Christmas when my daughter was two. She was happily opening her gifts because she was able to understand what was going on. That year we got her her first piggy bank and she brought that thing around for days taxing everyone for funds as soon as she recognized what it was for.
What’s your favourite festive food?
It’s more drink and dessert than food. Sorrel and black Christmas cake. Mind you, not just any sorrel or cake. The sorrel must be rich, strong and spicy. And the cake, rich and moist without being too dry.
Favourite Christmas gift?
When I was about eight or nine, my aunt gifted me a ‘Working -Out Barbie’ I loved that thing. It had joints in all the places humans do and Eve came with a cassette (I know, I know. I grew up in the 90s. Focus). I’ll never forget the song.

Favourite holiday scent?
Cinnamon and berries. Absolutely divine. Eucalyptus though, I will take any day of the year.
Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
Not anymore. As a Chile though, we attend Jamaica’s grand market. A special all day and night street market and fest.
What tops your Christmas tree?
A star. Preferably one that lights up. But is not a forlorn conclusion or anything. Whatever is available works.
As a kid, what was the one (crazy) gift you always asked for but never received?
Nothing. I didn’t grow up asking for a lot of gifts. My parents couldn’t afford a lot, and I just always knew that asking for things would be hard on them. So I saved the asking for things I really really wanted. Which was rarely things. It would mostly be to go somewhere.
I’m still like that today. Even when I want something I’m asked, I tend to try not to burden the person with my expectation gift-wise.
What is the best part about Christmas for you?
The joy of coming home. I am for a very big extended family. We are all off living our lives in different places throughout the year, but at Christmas, we make an effort to go ‘home’. To spend even if it is just that one day or two together before we go off again.
To me, it’s about us all being in that one place at the same time.
