Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Cream Cleanser Review

Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Cream Cleanser is the cleanser I chose to dip my toe back into other brands when my skin issues cleared up. Neutrogena has been around a long time and I’ve been in love with them since I was a teenager and my aunt who was a sales and promotional agent for the brand would bring around lots of samples to try. They are known for a number of popular skincare lines for acne-prone skin going back decades; including Clean & Clear, Rapid Clear and More Recently, Hydro Boost.

My Skin

Before I tell you how the product was for me I want you to understand where I am coming from. My skin type is combination (Dry+ Normal), but mostly dry and while I suffered the occasional breakout, I didnā€™t have too much acne.

That changed catastrophically three years ago, and one of the results was harsh creams and ointments the dried out my skin pretty badly to control inflammation. Once I got the inflammation under control, I stuck to Ole Henriksen cleansers. This is the first one Iā€™ve tried thatā€™s a different brand and Iā€™ve been using it for a month or so. So, here are my thoughts.

Scent & Texture

Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Cream Cleanser smells absolutely amazing. The citrus scent is beautifully rich. The product itself is pink and has a thick, smooth, creamy consistency. And provides a rich lather. A little goes a long way when applied to a wet face.

Effectiveness

1. Dirt Removal

The wash works very well to remove dirt and dead cells. I like to add my favorite facial scrub a few times a week, and it only enhances the results.

2. Moisturizing

It left my skin feeling clean and very well moisturized. It also help with minimizing the visibility of my pores, which became pretty large when I had my skin issues.

3. Make-Up Removal

The product also works well in the absence of make up remover and wipes when used with warm water. I accidentally found myself without wipes on a recent trip, it helped tremendously.

4. Acne Fighting

I havenā€™t had any breakouts in the past few weeks that Iā€™ve used it.

Verdict

When I use it with the Neutrogena Rapid Clear 2-in-1 Fight and Fade Toner, it helps my skin with oil production. Not an obsene amount. Just enough to keep my face from being too dry.

I love it. I want to try other products in the pink grapefruit line.

I love this product as my night time cleanser. I feel like it gets all the stuff I donā€™t want in my pores out after a long day. Glad youā€™re having a good experience too.

I’m a big fan of Neutrogena products since I have been using their acne toners and exfoliators for years. I stopped using their cleaners though because prefer Oil of Olay in that case because its gentler. Never heard of this pink grapefruit cleanser and usually don’t use cream cleanser because I don’t find them as effective. Also considered about essential oils which would make me break out; is the grapefruit from oils?

Understandable. The ingredients say the grapefruit is from extract, but the line is Oil-Free. Also, I love the moisture content for my dry, combination skin, so I guess I could see where some with opposite issues may avoid them. Iā€™ve tried tea tree oil, which is effective in helping inflammation and breakout, but again, drying. Thanks for reading!

I have heard some great things about Neutrogena. What do you use for a moisturizer after the cleanser? I would love to give this a try for my sometiming skin issues.

I currently use Ole Henriksen Balance Moisturizer, but I imagine the Pink Grapefruit moisturizer from the same Neutrogena line is a good way to go. Products typically flourish when used from a single line.

I believe I tried Neutrogena facial cleanser quite a few years back and this exact one because of the pink grapefruit scent. I really enjoyed using it due to my acne prone and oily combo skin type. I now use Cetaphil and African Black Soap that has greatly help as well! Love the review!

Thank you. I canā€™t use black soap, as it dries my skin out. Iā€™m glad your found your winning combination.
