Hyatt Place, River North Chicago Review

A few weeks ago hubby and I, stayed at Hyatt Place, River North when we took a trip to Chicago to attend the 2018 staging of the  Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) conference. The conference lasted a week, during which time we stayed at the Hyatt Place River North hotel.

It was a business trip and for all intents and purposes, the Hyatt Place, River North is a business hotel, offering the bare essentials in accommodations (by Jamaica’s standards) complete with daily copies of the WSJ (Wall Street Journal) strategically placed on the table in front the elevator for existing guests each morning.

The lobby area is small, but functional, with a lounge area and a small check-in area that was hassle-free.

Check-In

Check-in was a breeze. We arrived after 9pm, and the clerk asked for the email address the reservation was made under. We were asked whether we wanted to go ahead with the previous method of payment (as opposed to paying cash), presented the credit card associated with the reservation (you, aren’t able to pay cash prior to your stay, but you can after).

The receptionist was polite and courteous and we were on our way to our room in under 5 minutes.

 The Room

The room was clean, modern and comfortable. There was a sofa bed. Wifi access was very good.

Food

Since didn’t dine at the hotel at all, I’m afraid I can’t say.

Location

The hotel is literally in the middle of the city. You walk out the door and you are there. Restaurants, coffee shops, malls stores, even the hospital are all a few feet or a few minutes walk away. It’s also very close to the fire department so we often heard the blaring of the truck.

Every time I passed the building I thought of Chicago Fire and Station 19 on TV. My hubby says he could hear it from inside the hotel, but I never noticed it.

Checkout

A breeze. No, literally. Room number, hand over your room keys (provided you don’t owe anything) and walk out. That was literally it.

Conclusion

Hyatt Place River North is great hotel for business travel. A comfortable place to stay with no frills. Iā€™d give them three stars for experience, five for customer service.
