I am not now, nor have I ever been a breakfast person, but if I was, a 5-minute breakfast is exactly what I would be making. In fact, I used to fully hate having breakfast so much, I would dodge my mother in the mornings to avoid having breakfast or tea. She’d turn her back and I’d rush out the door as fast as I could, sprinting down that hill if necessary! This followed me into adulthood, and while I’m fine with fruit or so, I’m trying to do better as I’m now a whole mother and my body a ‘kick up rumpus’ pon me bout it. (Translation: My body is telling me to do better.). Also, now I’m a whole mom. Watch Karma!
I’d be lying if I said part of the lack of my attraction to the first meal of the day had nothing to do with making it and the fact that despite my adulting, I’m really not much of a morning person. However, it helps dramatically if I can make something for a quick breakfast (for the love of all things holy, please do not mention egg sandwiches to me. I detest them! Both is fine on their own but together? Blehchh!). I’m much more inclined to eat then.
Anyway, I thought I would share with some of my favourite recipes as an adult picky eater that helps me get something in my stomach earlier rather than later. Particularly, these breakfast recipes for busy moms can save a lot of time in the mornings. Of course, you can always chug a smoothie, but these 5-minute breakfast ideas that I’m sharing are for a more filling breakfast than a fruit smoothie would be, and as someone who doesn’t like eggs (The ‘go-to’ quick breakfast item) all that much, they are absent from this list.

Granola and Yogurt Bowl
This Granola and Yoghurt Bowl recipe takes about five minutes to assemble, less if you’re rushing. The base is made up of a Granola cereal of your choice and some of your favourite yoghurt. I prefer Greek (yoghurt) and Honey Bunches of Oats Granola. I add whatever fruits I can find in my refrigerator that day (if I find any), bananas, grapes, you name it. Within three to five minutes, boom! Breakfast is ready.
Ingredients:
- Granola Cereal, plain or flavoured
- Greek yogurt, plain or preferred flavour
- 1 ripe Banana (optional)
- 6 grapes (optional)
- 3 Strawberries, have (optional)
- 1 tsp Flax Seeds
- 1/2 tsp Chia Seeds
- 2 tbsp Cashews/Peanuts
Instructions:
- Add Yoghurt to a small bowl.
- Next, add granola, fruits and nuts.
- Add desired amounts of flax and chia seeds.
- Serve.

If you like your granola soft you may want to give it a few minutes for the yoghurt to soften the cereal, but I prefer mine hard and so I eat it right away. Another way to make the bowl of by doing a Parfait, in a short glass or mason jar. It’s just as quick and looks just as good as it tastes!
Oats and Peanut Butter Smoothie
I don’t drink porridge, or oatmeal (soaked oats). That’s texture is not for me, but I do like raw oat. So, grab a NutriBullet or Blender and portion the following;
Ingredients:
- Raw oats
- 1 tbsp Peanut Butter
- 1 ripe Banana (optional),
- 1/2 tsp Vanilla,
- Nutmeg/Nutmeg Extract
- 1/2 tsp Cinnamon,
- 2 tbsp Condensed milk or sugar
Instructions:
- Add dry and moist ingredients to the blender.
- Add milk/water.
- Blend.
- Serve in a glass or mason jar.
It’s a very filling recipe. But if you are like me and not want it to thicken (oats does that) then have it right away. If you let it will thicken.
Breakfast Ripe Banana Split
This recipe is another one that’s really three to five minutes and tastes awesome!
- 2 Ripe Bananas
- 1 tbsp Peanut Butter
- 2 tbsp Greek Yoghurt
- 1-2 ripe Strawberries (optional)
- Berries or grapes of your choice
- 2 tbsp Granola
- 1/2 tsp Cinnamon,
- 2 tbsp Condensed milk or chocolate/maple syrup
- Peel bananas and use a knife to carefully cut each down the centre. You may choose to create an opening without completely slicing through or opening them all the way.
- Top with peanut butter, then coconut yogurt, berries, hemp seeds, and coconut flakes.
- Serve immediately.

5-minute breakfast? Yes, please! I hope these quick breakfast ideas for lazy/busy moms help you out as they’ve helped me. After all, what are we here for if not to help each other out, hmm?

3 years agoYou basically took #2 from my mental list of breakfast ideas 🙂 minus the condensed milk. Otherwise, I make tuna wraps or sandwiches, and maybe a toasted cheese sandwich. That’s it. I barely make anything else for breakfast.
