Hoover OnePwr Cordless Vacuum Review

I bought my Hoover OnePower Cordless Vacuum after my budget one, the PrettyCare Cordless Vacuum. It began its life-decline two years in, losing suction power and time reduced on a full battery. I decided that, while the PrettyCare served my needs at the time I purchased it, my next purchase would be higher-end. The Hoover OnePwr I own is the Battery-System version. I recall being told pet vacuums are great options, so even though I don’t have any pets in my home, I was determined to try one that was specifically designed for pet use.

As a cleaning videos-watching mama, I had some idea which brands were more popular, but alas, the reviews I could find were from creators who were either paid to talk about them or were reviewing them as brand-new products, fresh out of the box. The former is okay, especially as a content creator myself, but I trust creators who also share products they are not paid to promote, and it was hard to find one that felt like a complete, authentic review rather than just a product placement. That said, it was a good way to gather options to look into.

After narrowing it down to a few popular brands through creators, I went out and bought one I found in a store: the Hoover OnePwr Cordless vacuum.

And because this is when I think it is most useful, I am writing and posting this review in December 2025, about 13 months into owning and using the vacuum.

TLDR: I will not repurchase this product.

Design and User Experience of the Hoover OnePwr

The vacuum looks pretty utilitarian. It’s in the brand’s signature red, gray and black colours and has a slender design on the motor. It is on the heavier side and can be a workout to use; however, I don’t find the weight obstructive. I’m willing to make that trade for a more powerful motor.

It comes with the standard floor head, a long,m snout attachment, a short flat one with two different types of brushes and a shorter head with a wheeled brush. I’m not a fan of the latter. The design doesn’t move flexibly, so it’s my least favourite to use. I use it for the couch and mattresses.

The Hoover OnePwr Cordless vacuum is easy to store, and something I fell in love with immediately is that, even with a heavier motor and wheels, it will stand upright on its own and won’t fall over if undisturbed. As someone who does not use the wall-hanging attachments, this is one of the things I really enjoy about the vacuum.

Battery Power and Usage Time

One of my favourite features of this vacuum is that it comes with two powerful, removable batteries. This means I am never unable to vacuum because of battery power. Swapping them out is as simple as squeezing two buttons for a quick release and snapping the full battery into place until they click.

In my previous home, a two-bedroom, one-bathroom with a small open-concept living room and kitchen, about 600 sq ft, I was able to vacuum the entire apartment two to three times on a single full battery.

We’ve since moved, and in a house of over 2000 sqft, I can get the entire house vacuumed with a full battery on high at least once before the power gives out. Then, if it does, since single-room vacuuming is standard, snap in the new one, and I’m on my way.

I’ve also noticed that you can purchase batteries separately for the vacuum since it’s removable. I absolutely LOVE that.

Suction Power

The suction power is incredible. After a year of use, I feel like it’s lessened a bit, but not enough to be definitely noticeable. It took me some time to decide that it was reduced a bit; however, it’s so small that I can live with it.

Charging Time

The batteries take about one to two hours to charge. There are progress lights on the batteries while they charge, so you can tell how far along they are, and when the lights are off, it’s fully charged.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Cleaning the vacuum is pretty simple. Disassembling is easy, and I wipe it down with a damp microfibre towel with a bit of soap, once with the damp towel without the soap, and a third time with a dry towel, and reassemble and be on our way again. I do this once every few weeks or as needed.

My Thoughts on the Hoover OnePwr Cordless Vacuum

One year in, I can genuinely say that this vacuum was a worthwhile investment. Aside from the weight (which, again, I am okay with for the power I am getting in the motor), there is nothing I can complain about.

In fact, I liked it so much that I went out ans bought the Hoover OnePwr Cleanslate Cordless Portable Spot Cleaner a few weeks later when coffee spilled on my off white area rug a fe weeks later.

The vacuum is used almost daily, and it’s exactly what I was hoping for when I considered a higher-end sturdy vacuum.

Update

Fourteen months into using the vacuum, the hose on the base of the floor attachment spliy open. It disrupts the suction so the attachment is no longer functional. When I tried to ckntact Hoover about the product using the ID number, the product ‘could not be found’. I have also tried looking for an attachment to purchase without success. I’ve noted a customer had their attachment brolen in the same place and left a review asking for help on the Hoover website. Hoover’s response was not helpful, so I don’t expect much help with the issue.

Based on the update above, I can’t say I would repurchase the vacuum.
